Who does Boots work for?

On 1/10/08 State Senator Phil Boots Released a news statement" Boots supports tough illegal immigration measures. Bill punishes those that profit from harboring, transporting or employing below-market cost labor" State senate Bill 335. Not a month later 1/28/08 he votes against and helps defeat that same bill! Who does Boots work for? That bill would have created jobs just by making it Illegal to employ unauthorized aliens in the county. It would punish the perpetrators of illegal employment, and dry up the market for it. This in it's self would be a huge step in stemming the flow of illegals into our country. But no Phil Boots voted against it. If he isn't working for us maybe we need to get someone who is!!

I must retract some of my above statement. Senator Phil Boots voted against an amendment to the bill not the bill. He in fact is still for the bill. I apologize to the Senator and to you!
At least that is what I think.

UP's 'n' DOWN's


Life has it’s up’s and down’s. It can be frustrating and demanding. You don’t have control over how long you will walk this earth, but you do have control over how you walk it. If your life seams like a roller coaster try putting the brakes on and slowing it down so you can look for the cause. Then you can change it. We all have control over our emotions, a lot of the time it seams they have control over us. If we let our emotions govern our lives totally then we are back on the coaster and heading for a bad ride. Try to keep things in perspective.

Using our emotions to flavor our walk in life not control it.

The Great Debate

It sure would be nice if all of the presidential candidates would have a debate or better yet a discussion about solutions to OUR problems. Just let the media broadcast the discussion, no questions, no moderator, no canned format and venue. Just open discussion about how each candidate would fix / solve the nations domestic problems. No foreign policy only domestic. How would they get the Legislative branch of our government focused on domestic solutions and getting the two parties working together for their boss (the people of America). Do you think that the candidates could discuss the pros / cons of their ideas and come up with solution proposals, or would their real selves come out and get in the way and it become a mud slinging contest like it is now. Do we really care what happened years ago or do we want to know the truth about how they will solve todays problems.

IN GOD WE TRUST


California is trying again! An atheist is trying to have "In GOD we trust" removed from US coins and bills. He said "the motto is an unconstitutional endorsement of religion"This same person tried to ban the pledge of Allegiance from the schools!
Congress authorized the reference to God on a two-cent piece in 1864, as stated in a MSNBC article, following a request by the director of the U.S.Mint. The director wrote there should be a "distinct and unequivocal national recognition of the divine sovereignty" on the nations coins.
In 1954 Congress inserted the words "under God" in the pledge of Allegiance, and a year later required all currency to carry the motto "In God We Trust".

As the signers of the Declaration of Independence state in three different areas of this document 1,We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights... 2,...appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions,... 3, And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.
The signers of our Declaration of Independence call on a higher power to guide, support, and protect them in their endeavor to start our nation, how can we 2008 years later endeavor to remove this same guidance and protection from our nation?
If the citizens of the United States of America want this country to remain a strong free nation we need to stand up and be counted, stop the removal of God from our nation, and return to our roots of believing, and trusting in God for guidance, protection, and strength!
At least that is what I think.

lotto money!!!!

Shame on me. I knew that all of the propaganda put forth when the gamblers and lotto players wanted us to vote YES for lotto, wasn't true. I just didn't pay attention to where the money goes. In Indiana 4 months out of the year $7,500,000.00 is deposited into the Indiana state teachers' retirement fund!!!!
Starting in 1989 They have been giving money to the teachers retirement fund, not to the schools for our children's education. No wonder our property taxes are so high.
Question: how long do teachers have to work before they retire? Are they like our elected officials, one term!!! and then retirement for life!
Don't get me wrong we need good teachers and they deserve a good salary, but our children deserve a GREAT education and we were told that the schools would be running in money from the lottery!!! What happened?

Where has all the money gone??

Just like the 60's song, Where has all the money gone?

1) Property tax, the lion’s share of our property tax, that just was raised over 50% or more, goes for schools. Where is the money?

2) Gambling revenues: We were told that “millions” of dollars were going to go for schools. Nothing has changed!! Where is the money?

3) Lottery revenues: We were told that “millions” of dollars were going to go for schools. Nothing has changed!! Where is the money?

4) School book cost: It costs over $100 to send a 2nd grader to school!

a) School supplies: major shopping list by school, grade, and teacher! Additional cost for families!

b) To teach, “sharing” all purchased supplies dumped into a communal pile in class and then distributed to all!

i) Sharing: the act of giving to another something of yours out of kindness.

ii) Communal: “communism” the forced giving of all of your possessions into a mass pile for distribution to all. How does this teach sharing?

iii) Capitalism: entrepreneurial system: The ability for anyone and everyone to be able to excel to their desired level and gain the rewards of their accomplishments. If you have more then you can share it with your fellow man. The American Way. We have been doing this since 1776!

Dry eraser and highlighters for 2nd graders, I think not must be TEACHER SUPPLIES!

Love has unique properties. In a family love helps us to understand the hard times, and to survive them. In a relationship it knits two people that are totally dissimilar into a cohesive unit. It allows two people to grow together and change delicately over a period of time into something
totally different and unrecognizable from the two people that started.

True love is patient, long suffering, slow to anger, forgiving, selfless, and transcends all reason.

VOTES

Who will you vote for? The black one, the old one, the veteran, the one from Illinois, the one with kids, the one with the big plane, the one who spends the most money, the one who shook your hand, the one that visited your town or state, the republican, the democrat, the woman, the man.
NONE OF THESE CATEGORIES MEAN A THING! We should be voting for the person that will DO THE JOB! I didn't say the one who wants the job, that raises a lot of questions in my mind. Who would want a job that is 24/7 in the public eye under the gun?
We need a group of individuals that view working for the public as a job, something that needs to be done, done correctly, and done concisely. Not someone that is looking for a popularity contest.
Don't let the candidates tell us what we want to hear, tell us the truth, tell us what your views are. Not what the other guy (or gal) has done or not done. Don't analise your opposition for us, we are smart enough to do that. Give us a list of things you are going to do for us. Don't put a spin on the issues, Give us solutions.
We need people in office that will work together with all elected officials to solve our problems, not toe the party line and ignore everything else.
At least that is what I think.

LOVE

A little child was concerned about the new addition to their family. The child asked their father “Will Mommy still love me as much after the baby comes?”. That is a good question. It turns out that LOVE is one thing that you end up having more of, the more you give it away! If you go through life loving and showing your love to other people you will never run out of it. You will also get a bonus. People will love you in return. That is something great!

Giving

Giving of ones self doesn’t always entail a monitory gift.
A lot of times people in your circle just need someone to be there or listen to them. Some one they can lean on in a time of stress or need. Reach out to them one of the largest emotions that people express is the feeling that they are alone.
No one cares about them or their problem. I know that we all have felt that way at one point or another in our life. It is a terrible feeling to be alone in a crowd. Everyone’s lives are too busy to see the need.
Stop and smell the roses. Help your fellow man today.

Your circle of influence, the people that you touch and affect, is with you everyday. You can’t get away from it. So you might as well have fun with them.
Make righteous decisions in your life.
Decisions that are made knowing their affect on your circle of influence and you will find that your walk through life will be like the light of dawn, that shines brighter and brighter until the full day.
Go through life trying to be helpful, giving of yourself. Giving to your circle with out expecting a return and you will see that your life will become happier.

Thought for today

How do we hold fast to our goals?
It has been said, ”The righteous is an everlasting foundation”
When we look at our goals in life, are they very self centered?
Looking out for #1 isn’t always the correct decision in life.
Some times we need to expand our horizons and look at the
people that our life touches and make sure that what we do
doesn’t adversely affect them. Our decisions for life need to
be righteous. If they are based on that principal then we have
a strong foundation to build on.
At least that is my thought.
