empty slate

Just like the picture above your life will be an empty slate to God when you give your life over to him.
It looks like we are ready to do something! I wonder what? It will be exciting, stick around and find out what it is.

WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO COMMON SENSE?

I have updated my connection to the web, and it is just a little faster! Now I can write again. (or at least attempt to write)

Common sense, the innate ability a common man (or woman) has allowing them to make judgment calls. If I do this it will hurt, based on experience and knowledge. Having been tought that the stove is hot during your childhood you don't reach out and touch the stove without testing it first. If you purchase a cup of HOT coffee, you would expect that the contence of the cup would be hot. That would be common sense. To the average man that comment doesn't require interpretation from anyone. There are a group of individuals that seem to have checked their common sense at their bedpost in the morning and require interpretation of ordinary things by extraordinary people called lawyers. These people make a living of confusing ordinary human beings, and removing common sense from the equation. They take reams of paper and meaningless words to inform us that we should not drive through a red light! If the fathers of our nation had the help of today's caliber lawyers the declaration of independence would have been a novel and the publish date would have been around 2007 not 1776. If the judges whose job is to interpret the Constitution would start using common sense in their judgment like Solomon did in the bible a lot of the mess we see around us would not be here.

Does it make common sense for Congress to develop a Government Sponsored Health Care System for the common man that doesn't include the very people that are trying to cram their system down our throats.

Does it make common sense for our Government to spend money beyond its income, then ask us to tough it up and take a pay cut in the form of higher taxes, loss of jobs, and increased Health care costs, but these same elected officials have not once considered a pay cut for them selves, or a cut in the fringe benefits that they enjoy as our elected representatives.

Does this make sense?

At least that is what I think.

What is going to happen?

3 Blessed is he that reads, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand. 4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be to you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne; 5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. To him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, 6 And has made us kings and priests to God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. 7 Behold, he comes with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. 8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, said the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. Revelations 1:3-8

A lot is said in these 6 verses. First it starts out with a blessing for those that read, hear, and keep the words of this prophecy. For the time is at hand. The time is near for this prophecy to come to pass. When? No one knows but it could come to pass in our lifetime! Paul thought that it would happen in his life time. The exact time is known only by God, it is up to be ready.

John then addresses the letter to the seven churches in Asia The known gatherings of believers in that day. Sends the churches God's grace or God's forgiving mercy. He also states that this forgiving mercy is extended from Jesus Christ "who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. To him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood," Here he describes Jesus several times The first begotten of the dead, the first one to rise from the dead as all believers will do. John also states the fact that Jesus loves us and washed us from our sins in his own blood!

In verse 7 John states that "Behold, he comes with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen." This is referring to Jesus and his second coming when all mankind will see him coming in the clouds as the ruler and judge of all the earth.

Verse 8 sums it all up telling us that Jesus is the Alpha and Omeaga, the beginning and end. The one that is and was and shall be. He is the Almighty One. God.

Looking into the past to understand the future

I have been looking at a few things on the web and in the news lately. Things that seem to be leading up to the end times. There have been many people throughout the ages that have made the statement "The end times are coming!" And believe it or not they have all been true! The end times are coming! There are one day closer today than they were yesterday. The fact is the end times are coming, a lot sooner than a majority of the worlds population think. It has nothing to do with global warming, a comet hit, or close encounters with aliens.
God is going to call an end to life as we know it! He is going to loose his angels and start His plan for mankind leading up to Judgment day. What am I talking about? I am going to start a little walk into the book of Revelation in the Bible. Looking at current events and what has been reveled in the bible.

The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass: and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw. Revelation 1:1-2 KJV

Where are the other 9?

Luke 17:11-19 And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. and as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: and they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. And when he saw them, he said unto them. Go shew yourselves unto the priests. and it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed. and one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back and with a loud voice glorified God. And fell down on lhis face at his feet ficing him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. and Jesus answering said. Wher there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God save this strange. And he said unto him.Arise , go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

Are we like the other nine? How many times has God blessed us and we take it for granted, or worse give someone or something else the credit? The government gave me the tax credit! I just got a raise due to the hard work I have done at work.

I can do nothing, derserve only disgrace, not grace, and yet God so loved me (and you) that He gives us grace, love, blessings, life. In the trying times that are coming we need to keep our eyes on the source of all our needs and blessings, GOD

Prase God from who all blessings come!

our mission

Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace: and the God of love and peace shall be with you. II Corinthians 13:11 KJV

God wants us to live in peace and unity. We are to get along with our fellow man. not to be contentious, or argumentative. We should be respected and known for our honesty. This doesn't mean that we should be quite and let people shut us up when it comes to talking about our God and faith.
God calls us to witness for Him!

A lot of times we think our talking the talk is what is needed when what is needed is our walking the walk! Christians get in trouble and become ineffective when we think just our talking about God will lead people instantly to Jesus. Our actions speak louder than our words. Our example every day 24 - 7 is what Jesus wants. That will bring people to us so we can talk to them and tell them of Jesus!

Don't be afraid! Speak out! Don't quit! For I am with you and no one can harm you. Acts 19:9,10 LB

After people see the light of Jesus in our lives and are attracted to what God has done for us, then we can stand up and respectively talk boldly about Our AWESOME GOD. We are to plant the seed, that is all. God will bring in the harvest!

The time is coming!

Then said Jesus unto his desciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. for whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.... For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels: and then he shall reward every man according to his works. Matthew 16: 24-27

The time is coming when everyone must stand and be counted. You will be for God or against God. There will not be a gray area to stand in.

According to today's verse to stand up for Jesus will require us to deny ourselves. That means our own self interest, our own desires, our wants. We need to put them all aside to follow Christ.

We also must pick up a burden. We have some task or cross to carry along the way, it will not be easy, but with God's help we will be able to do it.

Only after we have done those two things will we be able to follow Jesus down the path he has for us. God loves us and has rewards waiting for us in heaven. We just have to look beyond this earthly life and towards our reward in heaven. Our task on earth is to proclaim Him as Lord and Savior, our Redeeming Lord.

Our reward for following God on Earth is waiting for us in Heaven. But it sure feels great walking beside and with Jesus!

Greatest Christms Gift Ever

As Christmas is just around the corner it is time to stop and reflect on just what it is all about. Is it about getting gifts, having parties, eating great food, decorating the house and tree, getting together with family and friends, having fun? Christmas is about all of those things and more! It is about showing love toward one another! It is about caring for people less fortunate than our selves. It is about celebrating the fact that GOD is with us, Emmanuel! Over 2000 years ago GOD came and dwelt with man! He walked this earth for 33 years, feeling all of our emotions, and sorrow. GOD sent His Son JESUS to live with us, teach us, and to show us how much God loves you and me.
At Christmas time we need to enjoy ourselves and show others that we love them. Just don't forget the greatest gift of all, JESUS the baby whose birth is what Christmas is all about! Gods Gift to mankind. Don't let people take CHRIST out of CHRISTmas!!

Walking God's Path

If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in His love. John 15:10 NASB

God has a very strict and narrow path for us to follow. There is no gray area in His commandments, no way to wiggle out of something. His commandments are not open for interpretation. His law is the LAW.
But God knows us and Loves us. He does not leave us alone to try and walk His path. He is there every step of the way helping us, if we just let him.
A lot of time our wants and desires get in the way of Following Jesus! We feel that we still need this one thing or person in our lives. If we just let go and let God work in our lives He will replace that need or desire with something far better that we can imagine.

At least that is what I think.

Love one another

The one who obeys me is the one who loves me , and because he loves me, my Father will love him, and I will too, and I will reveal myself to him. John 14:21 LB

How do we show our love, by doing what Jesus told us to do. What is that? To find out the answer to that question we need to study the bible, not read it like a book but get into it and really study it. Jesus gave us all a new commandment, to love one another! That commandment is very far reaching and has no room for fudging. Love is a all encompassing emotion, all or nothing is what He is talking about.
There is no gray area in God's eyes. You ether love someone or you hate them.

The one another statement is also far reaching! Not just the people that love you back or your friends, one another means every one! Even your enemy! If you love Jesus, really and truly love Jesus, how can you not love every other human being? Without Gods help we can't. If we love Jesus, His love will flow through us and then we can love all mankind like He did. So much that He died on the cross for us before we loved Him.

At least that is what the bible says!

Living With God

If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him John 14:23 KJV

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving day, a day set aside to commemorate the the first pilgrims celebration of the blessings they had. In our day tomorrow we need to take time to contemplate and give thanks for the many blessings that have been given to us.

In the verse for today we are told that God will come live with us if we love and keep Gods words, or commandments to us.

Does God want to live with us?

Look! I have been standing at the door and I am constantly knocking. If anyone hears me calling him and opens the door, I will come in and fellowship with him and he with me. Revelation 3:20 LB

He really wants to live with us. In so doing He will bring countless blessings into our lives. Peace, Love, Joy, Contentment, Thanksgiving.

Let us give thanks to God for all of our blessings this thanksgiving day

Living with Jesus

Almost everyone has seen or heard this verse: For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son. That whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16 NASB

If we believe in him we will not perish! This talks about Jesus and His sacrifice for you and I on the cross. It holds a fantastic promise for all of us. Eternal life!
Everyone who has ever had the spark of life will exist for all eternity!
Where they exist is the question, in life or in death.
Life is the communion of God and mankind, living and walking in the very presence of God.
Death is living in a void without the presence of God, in complete and relentless pain and suffering.

Safety:

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: and I give unto them eternal life: and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. John 10:27,28 KJV

Once you start walking with and following Jesus, NO man can make you leave that path!! Only you can make the decision to leave. You are not forced to stay or go. You keep your free will and can leave your fellowship with God at any time.
Both God and you (I hope), will regret this decision, but it is a decision that is made all too often. God holds no grudges and will welcome you back with open arms when you wake up and look around and discover you are with out God.

God rules in your life totally different than any man or the Devil. Both man and the devil want to rule your life but they use force and captivation to keep you under their power. They hold you captive in a closed hand keeping you safe in their control! Living for man and the devil brings discontentment, discord, anger, frustration, envy, jealousy, hatred...

God on the other hand holds you in an open hand giving you the freedom to come and go. The only restriction is His blessings do not go with you. He provides you with shelter and protection from the attacks and distractions of this world. Communion with God brings peace, love, contentment, satisfaction that comes from knowing it will continue forever. My big question is who would want to leave this after truly partaking of His blessings?

New Subject

Today I am starting a new subject on my blog. GOD'S PROMISES. A look at the promises of GOD in the Bible and how they affect our lives.

Sin is the separator between God and us. God can not abide where sin is.
Man by his very nature is sinful. He doesn't have to be taught how to sin, it comes naturally.
God loves all of mankind.
He made the entire universe just for us. He wants all of us to be with Him.

So how do we get to know and communicate with God?

God has a redemptive plan. It is a way to remove the taint of sin from us. With that gone we can be with God and learn from Him!

The blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. I john 1:7 NASB

Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins. Hebrews 9:22 LB

God sent His Son to be a living sacrifice to atone for our sins each and every one all mankind has ever committed and will commit!
All we have to do is have faith in this promise to be able to be with god and learn from Him

That is what the BIBLE says!

NEEDS VS WANTS

Matthew 10:29-31 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. 30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

In todays verse God tells us that we are valuable to Him. He cares about us and loves us. He will look out for us and protect us. If we follow Him, and put Him first in our lives.

You must obey these laws that I will tell you today, so that all will be well with you and your children. Deuteronomy 4:40

If we walk with the Lord, and follow His commandments it will feel like we are leaving our old friends and life style, in fact, if your life was anything like mine, your are. But you are getting a new friend and Savior that is yours for life! Your new friend, Jesus, also wants to be friends with your old friends.

What does this have to do with needs and wants?
If you follow Christ your needs are taken care of!!! He will do it for you! If you don't follow Christ you are responsible for your needs! Its that simple.

What is a need?
Food, Water, Clothing, Shelter.
Food to sustain life, not in abundance.
Water to sustain life not to swim in.
Clothing to protect you from the elements, not the latest style or fashion.
Shelter to protect you from wind, rain, sun, and snow, not the fanciest house on the block.
These needs will come with a price, you will have to work for them in some manner. Because of sin that entered the world Genesis 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground... No free ride no government handout, toil.

As a follower of Christ he has said that our needs will be supplied.
This is totally different than our wants!
As humans we have all the wants in the world, if not all we have to do is turn on the TV and we can start a list! Trying to keep up with our wants really makes work, work!
Instead of that we could just focus on following Jesus and let Him take care of us!

Solutions

Zechariah 1:2-3 The Lord hath been sore displeased with your fathers. 3 There fore say thou unto them, Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Turn ye unto me, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will turn unto you, saith the Lord of hosts.

Yesterday I started a posting talking about Problems in our world. As I thought about it today I think we need more discussion about solutions for the problems than discussion about the problems!

Who do you follow?

The biggest solution for the problem you face right now is the answer to this question.

If you look to me or any other person or group for the solution you are looking in the wrong place. Like the verse for today states, turn to GOD for the solution. Only He has the answer you are searching for, the peace you need to be able to deal with whatever the world has to send at you. God is all knowing, all seeing, all loving! He sees the problem we are facing, knows the answer we are searching for, and loves us with an unending love, all we have to do is turn to him and ask for help. Keep in mind that his answer is the answer we need in our life at this time. He isn't going to ask you what you want He will give you what you need! Some times that doesn't quite align with what we were expecting, but in the long run it surely is what we need.

Keep your eyes upon Jesus follow Him. He will lead you and me through this troubled time and take us to greener pastures.

FOREST OR TREES?

Mathew 28:20 ...I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen

In these trying times some times we loose sight of what our goals are. We get caught up in what is going on and loose our way. It is times like this that we need to step back and reanalyze our values and thoughts. A good way of doing this is to look at the pro's and con's in our lives.

We need to count our blessings and put them up against our trials and tribulations. If you are honest with your self your blessings will far outweigh the troubles in our lives. The problem is, we focus on our troubles and not on our blessings. The troubles in our lives have the tendency to be "in our face". If you see things closing in around you, look beyond the troubles and find the blessings. You might find yourself in the same situation as Cory Tenboom did : Fleas, lots of them, were a blessing because it kept the Nazi guards away so they could have bible study!

One blessing that the world will never be able to take away is the ability to choose! We can always choose to follow Christ and do good, no one, or power, not even the devil, can take that from us! THE DEVIL CAN'T MAKE YOU DO IT! You choose to!

Privilege or Responsibility?

VOTING - is it a privilege?
Yes it is , one that few people in the world enjoy.
Counting all of the masses of people in the world, there are a small present of people that have the privilege of voting for their country's leaders. Most have to be satisfied with what fate deals them. They go through life not having the privilege of having a part in choosing their leaders. Most of the time it is the town bully or the relative or friend of the other leaders in power who get the nod of leadership. To the few (in numbers) people that have this privilege it should be something that they hold dear and want to protect it. In fact thousands of men and women have given their all doing just that! The concept of people choosing their leadership was almost unheard of before 1776. It definitely wasn't talked about in public in front of other leaders. But a group of men got together and hammered out a method of country leadership that has stood the test of time and has become the model for several other country's.

Freedom, to worship, to live, to choose your profession, to choose your town leadership, your state leadership, your country's leadership! This is what people have died for. Because of this sacrifice this freedom to vote should take on more than just a privilege it should be a Responsibility. The responsibility to exercise our God given right to choose who will lead our country and make the laws.

By not fulfilling this responsibility we indirectly support all of the other forms of government!!! But the worst part is we undermine the very foundation of government for the people and by the people. That means EVERYONE HAS THE RESPONSIBILITY TO SUPPORT OUR METHOD OF GOVERNMENT. It may not be perfect but it is a lot better than the alternative.

Pray for our country, and for its elected officials.

At least that is what I think
